Radio “Field Day”<\/strong> is something I look forward to each year. Field Day is always held on the 4th full weekend in June. It’s a time where many people with a common interest get together and share some time over a 24 hour period making as many contacts with others as you can.<\/p>\n

Field Day<\/strong> is ham radio’s open house. Every June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most popular event in ham radio.<\/p>\n

I’ve been participating in field day for many years dating back to the early 2000’s. The earliest photos I have found so far are in 2003 when I took my 8 and 6 year old kids with me to see what this field day thing that was reported in the paper was all about.<\/p>\n

Some of these events have been hosted at my QTH while I’ve attended many other field day events at other’s QTH. Some people are all about the seriousness of the even while others are more about socializing and making a few contacts between drinks.<\/p>\n

This page is a stop off point for all of my media that I gathered during these times. In part for me to go back and remember all the good times we’ve had together and all of the people that have been in my life some of whom are no longer with us.<\/p>\n
